Arabesque No. 2 from Deux Arabesques

Aldo Ciccolini, piano

The Deux arabesques, L. 66 (Two Arabesques) is a pair of arabesques composed by Claude Debussy. The arabesques are two of Debussy's earliest works, composed between the years 1888 and 1891. Debussy was still in his twenties. Although quite an early work, the arabesques contain hints of Debussy's developing musical style. The suite is one of the very early impressionistic pieces of music, following the French visual art form. Debussy seems to wander through modes and keys, and achieves evocative scenes through music. The second arabesque in G major is noticeably quicker and more lively in tempo. It opens with left hand chords and right hand trills. The pieces makes several transpositions and explores a lower register of the piano. Again notable is a hint of the pentatonic scale. The style more closely resembles some of Debussy's later works. Like the closing bars of the first arabesque, this arabesque closes in a similar fashion.

  • Debussy was such a genius. I'm loving the 16th note trills.

  • @flarbton @tecno98 FAIL comments. Ciccolini was a professional pianist who focused on Erik Satie and Claude Debussy, you morons!

  • @Kookookachoo533 good lord i can barely finish learning arabesque no.1

  • @WayofLiving1

    lmao

  • I love this piece... so much... and @muffinsarelife1 I agree with you, but only about the beginning and later on when that musical idea is repeated. I like to take it up to that speed towards the end. I also tend to use the pedal a lot for this..... is that bad...? lol

  • I heard so many variations of this piece... Some play it slow with the notes not being chopped off but this artist does a lot. It doesn't really matter, it's all Debussy.

  • Ah, I don't know, that kind of music doesn't touch me.

Even some song on nintendo and super nintendo are more touching, overwhelming... and we are talking about little midi sound 8-bit.

That piece sound like someone playing piano very well, and that's it.

I guess I will always prefer Chopin, it doesn't matters how hard it is or if he is a genius or not... his music simply get through my hearth, my emotion, me as a whole

I couldn't say the same here but this is only my personal view point.

  • @iceflame5 it should be amazing!

  • 5 idiots. 7 if you count flarbton and tecno98.

  • WAY too fast.
