* Edit 5/11/11 * WOW!! Thanks to Reddit.com for the huge jump in views today! Nate wants me to say "Thanks!!" for all the awesome comments viewers are leaving! He is doing great and always working on using the tools he's learned to help control his stutter.*

Nate was 7yo (Spring of 2010) when he did this classroom presentation about stuttering. This video was one of his practice runs.

He started a new school in Fall of 2010 and struggled with his stuttering quite a bit at the beginning of the school year. I sent this video to his teacher, who shared it with the class. At the time, he was unable to give the presentation because of the stuttering, but we thought it would be good to share the information with his class. At the time, he said it went fine, and I didn't hear anything else.

Today (1/13/11), he told me that showing this presentation made a BIG difference. Before kids would tease him and make fun of him, but after they saw this presentation, they understood more and none of his classmates tease him about his stutter. He wants to keep educating people about stuttering, so that kids feel good about themselves and aren't picked on.

**If you want to use this video, PLEASE contact me (mellyrose@gmail.com) and ask permission before sharing it. Nate is happy to share this presentation, but we would like to know how and where it's being used. Thank you!!"

  • oh my god, this kid is so young and still tackle it so good. im not even on his level as a 16year old..

  • I stutter.. and it is absolutely a stuggle. It keeps you from being outgoing, talking as much as you'd like, be confident in making first impressions or public speaking.. but i try to stay positive.
