Did you know that there are people on the autistic spectrum who go to university, earn PhD.s, and give lectures? Apparently, director John Boorman, and writers William Goodhart and Rospo Pallenberg did not.

  • What is the name of the film that this clip is taken from? Is it i film where this girl is the main character?

  • @ChocolateisIsNice It is from Exorcist II: The Heretic. And no, the little girl shown in most of the excerpt is not the main character. More than anything, I wanted to make clear to all aspiring filmmakers out there that not only is it possible to make part of your audience hate your guts in seconds, it is remarkably easy when you fail to do your research.

  • I was laughing and crying simultaneously at what an appalling portrayal this really is; just terrible.

  • @TheBadgerChannel As an aside, it would be interesting to think about what might have happened if the means to almost-simultaneously and indirectly communicate to people thousands of miles away had been available when Hans Asperger had been a grad student.

  • It's exceptionally bad because the film is from the fucking Stone Age, as far as knowledge about the spectrum goes. Cut this one a little slack.

  • @DeviantBeauty22 How about asking the people who believe crap like that in these films to cut us a bit of slack instead?

  • WHoever protrayed the role of the little girl did NOT portray someone with autism accuratly. Maybe she had "mutism" or something else but definatly NOT autism for sure.

  • That was odd. Sure, it's possible for autistic people (though I've only known one individual with a comorbid autism and language disorder diagnosis) to have speech disorders or language disorders but the stupid thing was that the speech appeared to be the only problem present.

  • sounds more like a stutter to me.

  • @zippygrl It should also be noted that there is a bit of a difference between being unable to speak and not having anything to say. If one has a deep preference for using alternate methods to express oneself, then one's self-perceived need to speak in the first place is rather diminished.

  • not all autistics can't talk i could write a more accurate autistic film

  • did u know 1/5 normal people think that autistic people dont see colour becues o this we r treated like comunist's

lol there retarted believs amuse me
