The family grave site of Phillip Grandin and Hannah Piatt Grandin in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati Ohio. Born in 1794, Phillip Grandin was an early and successful businessman and developer of the city of Cincinnati. He owned one of the first steamboats in Cincinnati, was a co-founder of the first private bank west of the Allegheny Mountains located in Cincinnati and developed much of the land around what is now called Grandin Road. Mr. Grandin was descended from a long and historic line of European rulers going back to King Clovis of the Merovingian Dynasty and including King Henry II and Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, King William the Conqueror, and many others. Phillip Grandin died in 1858. His wife Hannah Piatt Grandin was the daughter of Capt. Jacob Piatt who served on General Washington's staff during the Revolutionary War and was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati. Hannah loved music and imported a wonderful Grand Piano to entertain her family and guests in their home called Grandview.
