41 years after Luther's death, here is a new video paying tribute to the Man behind the Man in Black.
Here I'm playing "Big River" (the sound lacks flatwounds a little), illustrated with pictures and videos of Luther, and Johnny's emotional remembrance of Luther at San Quentin Prison.
To me, Luther is still the major inspiration of my guitar playing - "Walk The Line" turned my attention on Johnny, Johnny turned my attention on Luther, and Luther brought me to playing the guitar. He's my biggest musical hero and will always be.
Thank you Luther Perkins!!! We're still thinking of you!

  • There's never going to be guitar players like Luther. I like three guitar players. Luther, Allen Collins, and Petteri Salminen. No one else.
