MASC cannot be attacked like an inversion based scrambler.
It is a 5-band scrambler and the unauthorized listener would need to be able to locate properly at least the first two sub bands to hear the message (300-1200Hz).
If random sub band inversion is also used the sub band would also have to be undone.

MASC is a 5 band splitter with inversion. In other words the voice is filtered off into five bands of apprx. 500Hz each and then the sub bands are swooped around at a rate of 10 or more times per second. Due to the characteristics of voice, n band scramblers only have a limited number of good codes, usually around 11. Because of this I am sure MASC also randomly inverts some of the sub bands.

You are correct that is plain 5 tine, the audio in the clip isnt MASC (that was just to show mmy MASC ones off) but I can do you all an encrypted clip if you all want to hear them? The radios came to me with four matching keys, and I then copied them over into my other units that had different keys :-) yeahhhhhhh now they all talk in MASC together!!
