Lets see if he finally steps it up like fight Martirosyan Angulo Cintron Williams Cotto or even Martinez . But as of right now he is a contender with a belt not a champion .

How can they be watered down champs...they are young and had their first belts spoon fed to them...Alot of boxers get a belt like this...I believe Chavez lost his fight and the belt was bought for him bu Canelo...He is 20 yrs old and a true champ...He doesnt have to fight anyone of significance yet...He is not over hyped by anyone...He brought in a strong fan base from mexico and so did chavez...they needed no hype...They want to hype them up in da USA but they have a ligit strong core fan base

@97ruff ...Alot of boxers become champs by beating an old guy/washed up guy or fight for a vacant belt it happens all the time...He is defending against rhodes and the next fighter will be better and so on so forth...You guys need to stope mentioning Martinez and Cotto...Canelo is taking good steps up... he has fans and is a champ...nobody is saying he is lb. for lb. the best...

khan is young and when khan moves up weight and canelo grows up (most likely he will have 1-3 losses at 25) .

cotto wins against canelo easily.

canelo's slow and he goes for sloppy upercuts he sneaks in some nice powerful hooks,

but cotto works him with footwork and will move around alvarez tire him out and still get some nice quick jabs to his face. canelo will rush but hit air tire out and get knocked down.

I dont know why all the hate for Chavez jr. and all the praise for canelo when they are prety much on the same level. In fact Chavez jr. actually had to fight for his title because Zbik wasnt there just to be a punching bag. There are people actually saying canelo will be like Chavez ! I mean where do they get that from? Who knows how good he will be just like Chavez jr its not known yet. I think at this point Angulo koes both of them.

@97ruff ya well lets see if chavez jr fights someone legit not a manfredo jr, even if he fights mandfredo jr im still putting my money on manfredo bc he has way better power than him and more experianced than jr cause of the opponents tht manfredo has faced
