I am told the Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz is supposed to be a clone of the Frantone Peachfuzz. Shall we find out?

  • I think it goes without saying that comparing a Danelectro fuzz to a Frantone fuzz is like comparing an authentic Rolex watch to a plastic Timex watch. Peachfuzz for the win.

  • @flamerod169 The Frantone was always going to win imo. I was told though that the Danelectro is a clone hence the shootout. Came close a couple of times but the Frantone simply ruled!

    Cheers.

  • Hmmm....

    Things to consider....

The Frantone goes for around $300

The Danelectro goes for about $30

So does the Frantone sound 10X better than the Danelectro?

    Just thinkin'

  • Add a drummer and no one can tell the difference.

  • I seriously heard the danelectro for the first time here (I've been checking it a couple of times, I have a regular pedalboard with some money put in to it. But love toying with cheap "crappy" pedals) and literally went "there's that sound I've been looking for". Thank you my good man for this vid!

  • Although, I can attest that the Cool Cat CO-1 and CTO-1, both sound rather similar to at least one version of the Fulltone OCD and the Timmy overdrive respectively, the CF-1 just sounds like pants and completely different to the Peachfuzz. Great shootout dude, cheers!

  • Hi, but the danelectro fuzz (or Peachfuzz) must be placed before or after overdrive?

  • ok... so now I feel like a dummy for my previous comment and I am hearing the merits of the danelectro at some settings. I still think the frantone has more character, it's got a fat muffy bottom. the dano is more zeppeliny, mid-grit kind of thing. might be cool to even have both

  • As someone who has owned many dozens of boutique pedals, I actually like the sound of the Dano better at certain settings. The Peach Fuzz sounds better at other settings, though.

  • In all honesty, I preferred the sounds of the Dano... almost across the board. I love boutique pedals as much or more than the next guy, but the CC Fuzz is a fantastic pedal. No doubt about it.

  • they sound pretty similar for sure. and setting the knobs the same doesnt always work because they are never set perfectly. but i do agree that the dano sounds more "distortion" like than a fuzz. that was my first impression. but on full fuzz you get a decent fuzz sound and i would say its more clear and defined than the peachfuzz and i think might actually go better in a band situation because of that.

  • the Frantone has a rich creamy sound, the Dano has a more crunchy and harsh top end. if you can't find a Frant try a Frazz Dazzaler by Dr. Scientist.

  • What's the title of the acoustic intro song?

  • I'm drunk as hell. And i've got my eyes closed. And i say Frantone. And its the frantone every time.

there is a minor sparkle about that just truly rings out over the other.
