  • @imaginablemedium The point of this video is to educate a more technologically-inclined user with the hardware of Maschine, rather than the 'press button, receive sound' that you seem to require. As he says at the end of the video, watch the following episodes to get the For Dummies version. If you aren't set to understand 'tech speak' don't watch videos designed for people who know more than the average 12 year old using a guitar amp. This is an overview, not a demo.

  • Not even close... maschine is a whole nother animal. APC40 is just a pad ridden midi controller, and Korg Padkontrol is better than that thing any day of the week anyway.

    Maschine is sooooo much more.

  • @XavierCalabero Shut up! I came here for a tutorial on how to use this and that's what I want to learn damnit!

  • @sacredgeometry anyone seriously looking to play live with Abelton should be kitted with an APC 40....... and right next to your APC should be a Maschine.

  • @JoeyRec I agree its down to the creativity, but I also think you are missing a huge point of the apc. either that or you are not aware of what it and ableton can and does do. Maschine isnt anything more than a controller. It, like the apc is a dedicated controller for a bit of software. Maschine software is extremely limited and stripped down compared to ableton (obviously) so unless you feel that being restricted is better, how could it be better?

The apc has knobs, faders buttons and lights

  • @sacredgeometry Dude what are you talking about stop trying to argue. Im just saying APC40 is only a controller, like the padkontrol and i think the korg is a better controller.

You can use anything with Ableton live it maps it 2 seconds. Maschine is much more than a controller, and to be honest it works better with Live than the APC40 does! Its got a program that maps the screens, knobs, and pad lights.

Whatever your using, it comes down to creativity. Its not the instrument its the player.

  • @JoeyRec thats a really really poor and short sighted analysis of any controller. Any controller is what you make of it, the apc40s tight integration with ableton and max4live makes it much more adaptive than maschine.

  • @XavierCalabero can't seem to find a dummies version and need one (!)...can u link me? cheers

  • Does this have a headphones input?

  • Just to clear things up from random posts, yes it can be a Midi controller..... Meaning it can be set to use ANY midi capable software, so yea it can be used to dj with a program, I.e. Traktor pro. It can also control ableton, etc etc. It can also be used to add live percussion and such to dj performances. With the addition of 1.6, it now doesn't need to be ran in a host, it can now run vsts. All of this is both pc and mac.

  • when did Moby start working for NI?
