the whole reason i got into hip hop from punkrock and oi was the message was the same,. just a little more my pace. it comes from the same people but with a diferant perspective. i still love punk but hiphops always going to have an impact on my life.

I like what you're saying, but, the part about the media being to blame for hip hop's negative image is only partly true. People like Russell Simmons, P-Diddy, Jay-Z and Damon Dash should also take blame, for signing so many negative rappers to their labels.
