  • Classic tortise and hare. Soviets were miles ahead come 64 but came apart in the mid race and didnt even make it to the finish. Americans way behind at the start, mainly due to launcher size, but by late 63 had a plan, had the F1 engines and had the design for the saturn range. Putting 2 men on the moon is like 3 orders of magnitude more difficult than LEO, but the media and general public doesnt seem to grasp that even today.....

  • Spectacular! More footage appears all the time of this rocket. I think the man at the periscope is Valentin Glushko, their top engine designer. He felt the N1 was a mistake and refused to provide engines for it. Kuznetsov supplied the engines instead. Upon taking over from Mishin as design chief, Glushko ditched the N1.

  • I think the United States is the place where people from all over the world have been coming together for a long time (obviously.) They've been doing amazing things together for a couple of centuries now. I live here and I know people from lots of counties. They leave behind the conflicts of their old counties and they live and work together as "Americans." That's pretty cool. Maybe we can define a person's country differently when it comes to the US. People choose to be Americans.

  • if we didnt spend 650 billion on the military and maybe only 400 billion maybe we could beef up nasa and education funding and beat the chinks back to the moon and establish a space coalition between non-communist planets for the exploration of space. we can exclude china unless they agree to work with the rest of the world to work in space to benefit humanity not countries

  • @Any1anDoThis Yes i agree but what rossco failed to point out was that the amount of influence from outside america is huge and it is truely a human achievment and as far as the rocket goes its like claiming that the pieces of egyptian masonry work in London museums is a soley british achievment. yes america funded it and the job was done in america but the entire western worlds leading minds in the field came together for this. im not taking anything away from the achievment.

  • Yea just to let anyone reading know this fial troll closed his account after showing his true Aussie bigoted nature.

  • @888888username O yea and by the way TROLL HARDER MUPPET. Australia had a brilliant space program.

  • @888888username "You need to actually STUDY THE APOLLO PROGRAM in all its complexity. Then you might begin to appreciate it. " lol i love the apollo program its brilliant i love the russian space program too you are trying to tarnish the russians work im pointing out NASA and Americas problems and thier depth owed to Von Braun and other non- americans that did the ground work.

  • @888888username "THAT part is ALL American. Can't you see that? " the fact that Von Braun is in NASA at the time means it isnt all american FACT. "It's one thing to theorize and imagine...it's entirely another to actually do something incredibly difficult." lol its one thing to have the money to do it you mean.
