http://www.redskyperformance.com. This new outstanding dance creation brings together the Indigenous cultures of Canada, Mongolia and China. Tono is heavily grounded in the theme of horse culture, a creature universally regarded as the epitome of strength, grace and beauty, and spans the plains tradition in Asia and North America with a storyline about shamanism on both continents.

Inspired by Red Sky artistic director Sandra Laronde's travels to Asia, this three-country project was featured as part of the Closing Ceremonies of the cultural programming of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Tono has also been performed at the 2008 Summer Arts Festival at The Banff Centre, the 2008 Meet in Beijing Festival, the International Arts and Culture Festival in Inner Mongolia, and Toronto's 2009 Luminato Festival. Tono will continue to tour with performances at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, High Performance Rodeo, the Yukon Arts Centre and into Asia in 2010.

  • All of the Red Sky productions are very creative and orginal. The meshing of native cultures, is a wonderfully expressive idea. Great work... Sandra Laronde.

  • Sandra is from Temagami, Ontario. Many of the wealthy Americans had cottages on Lake Temagami, my favorite pop was Temagami Dry Ginger Ale when I was a kid.

  • No! "Hail Hitler" Now that is racist.

  • Excellent choreography. If I get a chance to return to Vancouver before the Olympics I would really like to see this production. Good Work, Red Sky.

  • Your statement is overtly racist. indigenous culture is earth culture and quite literally one of thousands. We evolve from one another and the culture in which we currently live is unique.

  • This video makes sense since Native Americans evolved from Asians a million years ago acrss a land bridge "(why they have the same hair texture to this day)" so their dancing with the distant cousins from Asia.

  • Wow! This is AMAZING! Well Done!
