i this song helps when i feel sad i walked home with my gf when it was cold 2 day i got home droped her off i felt as if i haddent thorght of her that it was cold :'( then i got into a fight with my mum just feels as i can relate to this guy he helps me when im in my darkest our :'(

I don't think they are really comparable in that sense. The piano music in this version is beautiful and makes the song seem very sad. Tears for Fears version is completely different, he seems much more frustrated for lack of a better word. All in all the original is more 'mad', fitting in with the title. I prefer the original version personally but I wouldn't say either is better than the other - they are both very good in their own way.
