The Delian Suite No. 5—Variations concertantes sur le nom de Paul Verlaine pour basson et orchestre à cordes (Concert Variations on the Name of Paul Verlaine for Bassoon and String Orchestra)— was created in collaboration with bassoon virtuoso Franck Leblois (Angoulême, France) and premiered by the soloist with the Octava Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Johan Louwersheimer. This compelling new work prominently features the bassoon in each of the variation movements contributed by twelve composers representing the best in contemporary tonal art music from Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. This exciting new concert work serves as the centerpiece of the Delian Games, held annually in the month of May.
This is such a great project! For it to come together so well, everyone involved excelled. Congratulations.

Bravo! This video blends aural and visual imagery, capturing the conceptual blend of contemporary composers interpreting the words of a 19th century poet. Marvelous project.

Soloist Franck Leblois is a magician! Maestro Louwersheimer really understood how to bring out the nuances in this collaborative project featuring twelve different composers.
Matt Weiss has done a wonderful job with the videos, and there are more in the works with the Octava Chamber Orchestra, including Franck performing a Vivaldi bassoon concerto.
Seattle is truly fortunate to have such an outstanding and adventurous ensemble willing to premiere new tonal art music by living composers.
