Neil Young cover.

Don't call pretty Peggy,
she can't hear you no more
Don't leave no message
'round her back door.
They say the old laughing lady
been here before
She don't keep time,
she don't count score.

You can't have a cupboard
if there ain't no wall.
You got to move there's
no time left to stall.
They say the old laughing lady
dropped by to call
And when she leaves,
she leaves nothing at all.

See the drunkard of the village
falling on the street.
Can't tell his ankles
from the rest of his feet.
He loves his old laughing lady
'cause her taste is so sweet.
But his laughing lady's loving
ain't the kind he can keep.

There's a fever on the freeway,
blacks out the night.
There's a slipping on the stairway,
just don't feel right
And there's a rumbling
in the bedroom
and a flashing of light
There's the old laughing lady,
everything is all right.

  • Hey man how did you put that effect on your voice? Thanks

  • @VocoPacem It's an audio effect of the video-editing software.

  • I stumbled onto your site - must have hit the 'wrong' key. Wow! You're good:)

  • @louiseduvee Thank you Louise.

  • I like this rambling epic acoustic hippie version. You've got those open chords ringing true on your 12 string. Ohi, hao ao ao oh...

  • @CurtisMateer Thanks Pete, it's one of my favourit songs of Neil Young.

    Glad you like it.

  • Take you wig off

  • @JoeChrisMorris Neil was on his best in the early seventies in my opinion.

  • have to go check out Unplugged now!

I'm familiar with this track from the Decade album, but what with having Neil's Archives dvd on perpetual play here at home I listen to this a lot

was this period a peak for Neil or what? After the Gold Rush, Buffalo Springfield again, Journey through the past (okay, maybe NOT that film LOL!

    more of this!

  • Thanks Jeff,I agree with you, both versions are beautiful!
