La imposición de una cuota de 800 dólares y la amenaza de un privatización ha creado un ambiente de confrontación y militarización de la universidad de Puerto Rico. Los derechos fundamentales de libertad de expresión han sido macaneados por el estado. Desde enero a marzo del 2011 mas de 233 estudiantes arrestados, 14 suspendidos sumariamente y 6 acusados de delitos criminales, 3 de ellos graves con hasta una penitencia de 5 años de cárcel. Desde hace mas de un año los estudiantes han denunciado públicamente el uso indebido de la fuerza, los actos lascivos y fichaje (carpeteo) de parte de la policía de Puerto Rico. The imposition of an 800 dollars fee and the threat of privatization has created an atmosphere of confrontation and militarization in the University of Puerto Rico. The fundamental rights of freedom of expression have been suppressed by the state. From January to March 2011 more than 233 students were arrested, 13 summarily suspended and 6 charged with criminal offenses, 3 of which face serious penance of up to five years in prison. For more than one year the students have publicly denounced the abuse of force, lewd acts and filing by the police of Puerto Rico. No policeman has been charged with any crime.
