This is NOT a replica. It's a REAL Goliath, restored to running conditions by its owner. Sorry for the bad quality of the video: It was shot in 1990, never meant to end up on YouTube. I decided to publish it because of it's importance.
This Goliath is an early model fitted with electric motors (SdKfz 302). It is privately owned and restored to running condition and runs before your eyes.
In Memoriam to "Le Musée de la Poche de Royan"
It has been on display for a short time only, in 1990 at the museum's grand opening, and became soon disabled with motors damaged beyond repair.
The museum has closed its doors in 2007 and all items of the collections auctioned of in June 2008. The collection included M4A1 Sherman, Kettenrad, Schimwagen, Kubelwagen, Ford M8, Halftrack M16, WLA 1000 (yes, a rare 1000), White Scout car, Diamond, Zündapp, BMW, Dodge WCs, 88 gun, AMX13 VTT, ... It's all gone now.
The purpose of the museum was to depict what has been the Liberation of Royan ... a French coastal city totally destroyed during its liberation. Few remember of it. It is important the younger generations be educated of what happened 60 years or so ago.
Note: If you notice the date of shooting, it's Aug 3, 1990. A day after the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq. And it's been exactly 18 years now.
@tvnshack I love you

@RebelSonBand Good reading !!! This is how everyone should proceed. Then visit museums to have a clearer idea of the things.

@tvnshack I did some reading up on it,it seems that the first goliath was build-designed attack bunkers and strong points without arillery...It was to prevent the dead-lock of the trench warfare of ww1-----so if a bunker was"in the way"the goliath could be used..The A.T role was only thought about because of the mass-panzer attacks of ww2.. It seems to be able to hold 75kg and up to 100 kg explosives,but dont now what typr that was----:)

@RebelSonBand 60kg of explosives cause a particularly powerfull blast.

@tvnshack Well,I just saw the vid by chance and wondered... Am I correct in saying this was not a powerfull anti-tank weapon ? Batteries,that must mean there is a generator somewere too,to fuel the batt ?
Not the finest of German ingeniuty,if Im not mistaken..
RebelSonBand 1 year ago
@RebelSonBand Hello. It depends on the model. These ones (Sd.Kfz. 302) where powered by batteries. The electrical motors are on the sides inside the tracks casings. With 60kg of explosives. Please read the available documents about these devices. It's better than guessing.

@tvnshack How does this goliath run ? On electricity or fuel ? The engine is inside it together with the explosives,how big can it be ? The goliath needs room for fuel or battery,room for explosives,engine,the tracks and so on and carry the armour.. So Im guessing the engine is small and is the armour----this weapon is of no use compared to a panzerschrek.. Against bunkers,perhaps ?

There are several Goliaths that could be restored to running conditions (for example in Polish Army Museum, Warsaw) but doing so for example for reconstruction groups would cost so much that it'll be cheaper to build copy

I've another video, but I'm not the owner. I should actually post it here anyways as this museum no longer exists and it's treasures have been auctioned off already.
