On June 11, 2009 Charles C. Lynch was sentenced to one year and one day plus four years probation in Federal Court for operating a City Sanctioned Medical Marijuana Dispensary. Lynch was facing a five year mandatory minimum sentence but applied the 'safety valve' to Lynch and gave him the lighter one year sentence. Lynch walked out of the court room on bail pending appeal.

i am currently facing 1 to 5 years in prison for growing seven immature marijuana plants in my bathroom in west virginia. the state is recommending the maximum sentence. i have no other convictions

He shouldn't have been charged with anything. This is absurd. Rapists who plead down to burglary get less time than that.

If your sentence is over one year you qualify for time off for good behavior. The extra one day was a favor, a gesture of leniency from the court.

This IS wrong... There are no telling how many people from foreign countries here against federal AND state law and yet there is no action, yet this innocent man is imprisoned for something his state allows... why not crack down on a real problem.

This is wrong. The 10'th amendment should protect state law shouldn't it?
