I know next to nothing about fighter planes, so could somebody please tell me, in the movie, were there not flares because flares did not yet exist or were incompatible with the jets used, or because the movie makers didn't have the resources or desire to use them in the making of the movie? Just wondering

@rommel jnr, I think you mean the F-14, has been for 40 years, just on the history timeline you gave, the 15 might very well be the beswt fighter jet we have in USA, but thwe F-14 came out in Nam. and the 14 has proven itself to be a truly remarkable fighter jet even to this day
