Ben the Real Ale drinking dog from The Last Inn on BBC's 'That's Life'

Ben would only drink Real Ale - he was NOT trained to do this.

What do they put in the other stuff ?

This clip is from 1983 'That's Life'. Ben went on to be a guest judge at the 1983 Great British Beer Festival. He also starred on an Australian TV series called 'Great Bars of the World' - anyone got a clip of that ?

Ben also featured in the 1984 Good Beer Guide and was immortalised in a cartoon by Bill Tidy. Ben was made a Life Member of CAMRA.

After many happy nights in the bar, Ben passed away at the age of 11 in 1991 - from a non-drink-related illness.

The Last Inn, Hengoed, Oswestry, is still a haven for those who like Real Ale and live entertainment.
