The UK pop trio the band Arrows perform the title track of their 1976 album "First Hit" which was released on RAK EMI Records. Lead vocals and bass guitar by Alan Merrill, guitar and harmonies by Jake Hooker, drums and harmonies by Paul Varley. Lots of Arrows fans screaming in the live audience on this one.

  • They do an entirely different sounding version the next season when they added guitar player Terry Taylor.

  • @heavyharpoon The band made a very big change of gears when Taylor joined the group. They never sounded better.

  • wow, I can honestly say, I've never heard of this band

  • Not surprising, as this clip was from 32 years ago, and the band were only promoted in the UK and Europe.

  • Last poster, good call! The Arrows drummer Paul was an advisor on the set of the film Spinal Tap, and the keyboard player Dave Kaff(inetti) is one of Paul's best friends.

  • Thanks for these clips. I feel that I know music quite well, but I had never heard of this band before now. Something different to explore and enjoy.

  • First hit. Title track off their 1976 album. The version with Terry Taylor in the band is much better. It's on youtube. This is the album version, and is weak compared to the later Arrows TV track recordings of the song..

  • They were my fave group and very underrated at the time,I know I was there and not surprised some have never heard of them. The Nolans made it big in Japan ,so that says it all.

  • Drummer of Arrows Paul passed away of a heart attack on July 2nd 2008. R.I.P. Paul Varley.

  • Cool song.

  • English drummer Paul of Arrows was the advisor in L.A. for actor Christopher Guest and the role of Nigel Tufnel in the film Spinal Tap. Paul became involved because of his friendship with Tap's Dave (Kaff), who he knew from his long relationship with his (Kaffinettti's) band Rare Bird. Actor Chris Guest got Paul's character down so well, people thought it was Paul in the film.
