The Hobbit (A Musical) was produced for the stage by Khandallah Arts Theatre in Wellington, New Zealand in 1986. In this 2009 documentary, cast members recall their childhood stage debuts in this ambitious production.
Featuring John Gorringe (Gandalf), Mark Da Vanzo (Kili), Elizabeth Peterson (Bilbo Baggins), Ben Simcock (Dwalin), Lucy Walls (Bifur), Lisa Duggan (Frodo's mother) and Jeremy Ansell (Bert the Troll and Hobbit Auctioneer). Footage of the stage show shows a ten year old Bret McKenzie as Frodo - a decade or so before his fame in Flight of the Conchords and as "Figwit" in the Lord of the Rings movies.
