The representatives of Carcar City Division (No. 72) to the CVIRAA Meet 2010 Dancesports Competition Sergszel Aliser of St. Catherines College and Paulo Canete of Ocana National High School grabbed the second place after their standout performance last February 12 at St. Thomas Learning Center of Danao City. The delegation sent only one couple to compete in the Latin American Discipline.
It was a tough competition and the adjudicators found it hard to determine as to who will emerged as the winners since all competitors were good. The spectacular dance competition in the Latin American Discipline secondary level was a very close fight between Carcar City and Cebu City when both couples tied ifor first place. The Chairman of the board of adjudicators called for a showdown between both couples prior to the proclamation of winners. Very loud applause could be heard inside the covered court every time Sergszel and Paulo (Carcar City Team) executed their winning routine in the Latin American Discipline. Their tandem captured the spectators hence they were the crowds favorite since the start of the contest.
The competition ended up with Carcar City grabbing the second place while Cebu City won the first place, Talisay City grabbed the third place. Sergszel also received the best female performer in the Latin American Category with Jeric Canoy of Cebu City as best male performer in the same area.
In the Latin American Discipline elementary level winners were Cebu City (First Place), Mandaue City (Second Place) and Talisay City (Third Place).
The winners for modern standard category elementary level were Cebu City Division (First Place), Mandaue City (Second Place) and Bohol Division (Third Place ).
In the modern standard for secondary, the winners were Cebu City (First Place), Bohol (Second Place) and Talisay City (Third Place ).
Hours prior to the final competition, a set of adjudicators composed mainly of the competitions officiating officials made a pre-final competition to choose the top three couples for each discipline, Modern Standard composed of Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Jive and Latin American composed of Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive which was divided into two parts; one-dance and two-dance competitions for both elementary and secondary.
Carcar City won all the second places in the Latin American dances, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba and Jive for the one-dance competition and also second in the two-dance competition, while Cebu City won all the first places and Danao City and Talisay City had their shares in the third place.
