It is not a 'flaw' that he does not explain what would happen to the Flatlander if he were to visit the third dimension, as "Flatland" is not Carl Sagan's book. It is Edwin A. Abbott's book of which Sagan is speaking. He is simply using the concept of Flatland and the difficulty that the Sphere character has describing himself to the character A. Square to help explain the difficulty in helping us to comprehend the idea of a fourth dimension.
