this is one of the smallest fully original hardware nes portables, which was accomplished by using the nes top loader board. it's aka code name: red mushroom. the code name is due to it being an nes portable and due to the shape and coloring.

    yes, it can be made using a clone system. but that is not what this is. as this is a 100% compatible nintendo portable. and that is the cheapest a small 100% compatible nes portable can be made for. and using a clone for it would not make it what this is.

    and, using a clone means i could not have played battletoads on it. as that is one game that never works on any clone.

    of course, these days nes emulation is rather simple, and I believe the ds can emulate it easily, as well as any pc built since the mid 90's.
