A total of 9,173 runners and walkers -- all full-time workers who entered as part of corporate teams -- from 419 Monroe County companies competed tonight in the 20th annual Chase Corporate Challenge at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
The 3.5-mile road race took off at 7:00 p.m. and companies celebrated post-race in more than 300 hospitality tents throughout RIT's campus. Employees from businesses of all sizes and industry groups took part for healthy competition, camaraderie, team-building, and a significant contribution to the community.
A donation was made by the JPMorgan Chase Foundation for each entry to the Rochester Urban Fellows Program, which provides undergrad college students with the opportunity to work with community-based organizations.
The individual winners were Mark Andrews of Fleet Feet Sports Rochester in the men's division with a winning time of 17:47 and Morgan Burrows of Corning, Inc. in the women's division with a time of 20:02.
The largest companies in terms of participation were: University of Rochester (277 entrants); Wegmans (192); Harris Corp. (184); Unity Health System (173); Paychex (156); Chase (152); RIT (110); and Greece Central School District (105).
