Still think Facebook and Twitter's are resource hogs and not worth the effort? Think again. Universal search, real-time search, Place search and social media are the buzz and "social media" signals for search rankings are real. Tweets and Facebook Updates are now directly integrated into the Google and Bing main search results and who you are socially, your authority, the authority of those who talk about you (or your company) all play a role. With nearly 30% of all search queries having a local intent, local search has moved far beyond basic online yellow page directories. Local businesses now have an array of tools to help improve their rankings in a wide variety of local search services. As a result Google has now shifted its focus to local search, including mobile, with the introduction of Place Pages that act as information pages for small businesses and Place Search.
