Alfalfa is the most important forage legume grown in the United States. In fact, it is grown to some extent in all countries throughout the world. Historically, alfalfa has been used dominantly as a premier hay plant. However, it's use as a grazing crop is gaining momentum with more farmers, who are seeding the "queen of forages" for the purpose of grazing. This short movie (broken into two parts) examines the advantages and precautions associated with grazing alfalfa, including research results and farmer testimonials.

  • @heyoehkah It grows great here in Arizona. All areas of the state grows it. Most of our areas reach greater than 100 degrees in summer. All along the Colarado river it grows from Fort Mohave all the way to Yuma and those areas reach 120+ degrees in the summer. Some even get frost in the winter.

  • and it will bloat cows like crazy! better mix it with something, like fescue, or timothy

  • Will alfalfa grow in a temperate climate or does it require a cold winter?
