  • It's interesting how Canon approached this camcorder's design. It's like they took an SLR and said "now let's make it record video." This may have been targeted at SLR shooters who wanted to try video. Does this camera have a large sensor like an SLR and can it accept SLR lenses? If so, it will produce a film-like perspective with good background defocus.

I have a DSLR that shoots video, but it uses a CMOS sensor which causes "rolling shutter" jelly effects. No WB or iris control either.

  • @CameramanLink Yes, it's an early concept in a way of what we are currently seeing with the DSLR craze isn't it. Sadly though this camera doesn't have a large sensor like SLR's but a single 1/2" CCD chip.

  • the comment on vwestlife's video brought me here

  • @asterbaster96 Cool and thanks for visiting.

  • it was that camera on godzilla right ??

  • @ramiro0412 I've no idea never seen it.

  • @weeardguy Very true. I kept mine for mere novelty value. Its amazing how only a few years ago we though DV resolution of our tvs for awesome, now we have HD and soon 4K. We have been spoiled lol

  • @GanEdenVideo Repairing these isn't worth it anymore: Yes the image quality of a good working unit is incredible, but there is just something better now ;)

  • @weeardguy Oh OK no worries. Sad to hear that. They can be repaired of course. I have a DV500 as well.

  • @GanEdenVideo I'm referring to the date it first came out ofcourse.

I had 2 of these: the first one died: only purple and very dark images from the CCD after changing the battery, playback was still OK.

I 'retired' the other one in April 2011: the white-balance wasn't stable anymore. A stable image went from bluish to green, to red and back. I replaced it with a JVC GY DV500

  • @weeardguy Maybe but mine is 1996 and one of the last made and works great.

  • @GanEdenVideo Multiple search results on the internet clearly state 1994 as its debut year: as one of my own EX2hi's has a 1995 marking, it has to be from '94.

  • @GanEdenAustralia Correct

  • @asterbaster96 pity he doesnt watch my videos

  • @GanEdenAustralia yes with the adapter and you get awesome bokeh

  • @weeardguy 96 actually
