Americans living below the poverty line at all time highs?

According to the 2010 US Census, 46.2 million Americans are living below the poverty line. The poverty line is based on numbers from 30 years ago and some experts calculate that the poverty line for an individual is approximately $31k per year instead of the estimated $10.5k per year. Michael T. Snyder, founder of TheEconomicCollapseBlog.com, gives his thoughts on the poverty line in the US.

Mandatory car insurance.
If you end that stupid experiment, poverty levels will decrease almost immediately. Also, a bunch of people will freak out about how their rates will increase - as if they haven't been increasing steadily since the stupid laws were put in place to begin with. Give people expanded access to physical mobility, and social mobility will increase as well.

@1crimm Yes! We have been prepping for 3 yrs with satored food, etc etc, make ammo on our own with the Lee Reloader, have a good deal of fire arms, cross bows, Silver, land with water sources, no debt, and we have sacrificed to get this way! i don't have anew car or newer clothing or jewlery or nice stuff, Stuff is GARBAGE!! Learn to can and bake and store food an dlearn to hunt and fish and grow!! SAcrifice nOW!! prepare NOW!! Time is short!!
