Ya man, which makes it easier when it comes time to skin the model to the bones. You end up spending less time messing around with the envelopes and vertex weights. I've used XSI and it is powerful as well. You should try 3ds max though, I find it easier to find good reference info and tutorials and such.
Yeah, it is, but I've always been rebellious and gone with XSI. :d In that program they all look alike, here it looks like they can be shaped to fit the model.

The skeleton is the biped from Autodesk's 3DS Max, which is most likely the most popular program for 3d modeling and animation.
