Every train was shot in the vicinity of Guadalupe, CA

1) Pacific Surfliner 798 heads south on the Coast Line just a couple minutes after its scheduled stop in Guadalupe.

2) As soon as the Pacific Surfliner cleared Guadalupe, the southbound Guadalupe Turn (symbol LOF66) began its trip to Gemco Yard in Van Nuys. It is a unique train for the day as it has a HERZOG trainset tacked on to its end. The location is a few miles south of Guadalupe.

3) The Guad Turn went "into the hole" at Devon siding to meet this late nortbound Coast Starlight 14. The people in the rear private car waved so I waved back.

4) Since Devon siding is operated by hand-thrown switches, the train had to stop so that a crew member could realign the switch and get back to the head end. This made for a treat as the two SD70ACes notched up right in front of me.

6) This southbound Coast Starlight 11 would have stayed on time had it not needed to meet its late northbound counterpart. Here it is passing the Amtrak station about 20 min off schedule.
