Salma (1985) - Adab Apne Dil Ko Sikhaana Parega (Qawawali) - Salma Agha

The first Indian film I can remember watching . . . starring Salma Agha, Raj Babbar, and Farooq Sheikh. Released in 1985 with music by Bappi Lahri, it features three EXCELLENT qawwalis sung by Salma Agha herself.

My cousins and I used to reenact the film and it's songs when we were kids . . . gawd, we were sick!! Imagine a bunch of six and seven year olds reenacting a story about a scorned qawwali singer and naachnewali who commits suicide at her ex-lover's wedding . . . not exactly "Dora The Explorer", is it? It certainly explains a lot . . .
