These are resin paintings based on stills from my original 1989 35mm animated film, Dream. I thought it was timely to revisit the imagery, as I began making the film 20 years ago this year. I built the painting boards, painted them white and then projected the images on, freeze-framing at the desired point. I then traced around the images and laid the boards flat. Each colour was painted on separately, using surfboard filler resin. When all the colours were on and had dried, I brushed on a gloss coat. So, in a sense, each one is constructed a bit like a surfboard. They are quite light in weight, considering, and the colours are really rich and beautiful.
They can be made any size.
I thought they would be a good way to draw attention to the original cels, which are also for sale. I will be exhibiting a selection of both cels and resin paintings at Sea Cell in Byron Bay, early in 2008.
If people want to order one, they can pick their favourite scene from Dream. I can be contacted privately through my website.
