http://www.driver-coaching.com - A mashup of external and onboard video footage of Rounds 1 & 2 of the Chevrolet V8 Supercar Championship from the Yas Marina circuit in Abu-Dhabi.

I was there as driver coach to Raed Raffii (Meezer) and Husam Al-Saleh (Hala), also helping my old friend Abdul-Aziz Al Yaeesh. Onboard footage is included from all 3 drivers.

Background music is from the Aerosmith Concert held at the end of the F1 Grand-Prix weekend.

Video System used for race onboards is VIDEO4 from Race Technology.

The V8s are back there in Feb 2010 supporting GP2 Asia and the Australian V8 Supercar series, check this channel for onboards from those races also.

Also, lots more V8 Supercar onboard footage on my channel http://www.youtube.com/maxxuk

  • THE ABOVE VIDEO RESPONSE (MaxxUK 9:12) is full onboard footage from Yas Marina in his V8 Supercar ME.

  • @MaxxUK by his I meant Raed Raffii's

  • now I know why they say we have the best V8 Supercar Drivers in Australia........not trying to spark a debate or an argument but these guys look like they finding it tough to stay on track!!!!!!

  • @shandv - No one would argue with that shandv, these cars really are not in the same league. We will get chance to compare both in 2 weeks when the Aussie V8s and the ME V*s race at the Yas Marina circuit.

The big problem with the ME V8s is the lack of camber meaniong that you are only using about 1/3 of the tyre at best during cornering. Spring and Dampers are static and generally too soft and bump and cambers upset the cars much more than the sophisticated setup on the Aussie cars.

  • @MaxxUK The biggest issue for this race was the newness of the track and the fine sand that blows across the track from time to time. The oils in the tarmac were still evident and as this was the first race there it was very variable. Also the guys went straight into quali not knowing the track.

We have just done another race weekend there and whilst still mega exciting there was much less off-track driving :)

Watch out for the onboards very soon .. one should be up later today.

  • they are holdens not chevrolets thay are made in australia

  • @BETTEMIDLER1945161 - Your absolutely correct.

  • great video. love these cars and the yas marina circuit. thanks for the upload

  • only a few hours now until we see the V8's there, here in Australia .. im excited!

  • Ok wish them all well......& no doubt I am sure a lot will be learnt both for the teams and drivers at this circuit....cant wait Australian V8's to kick off for 2010:) Go Rick & Todd Kelly those new JD Holdens look awesome......

  • Fair enough! They are HSV GTS's aren't they? Well, re-badged as a chevrolet I would guess. Strut front end, hokey semi-trailing arm + extra link at the back? I used to have one (a VT, back in 2001) in Australia, and even then agricultural would be one way of putting it!
