I wrote this a couple of months ago, it was inspired by the loss of a couple of friends of mine at the beginning of the year, who were hit out of nowhere by a reckless driver.
I hope this poem can touch a few people. I wasn't going to share it, but I figured the title and subject matter made it the perfect come back poem (so to speak) as I've kinda lost touch with a lot of you.

Sorry about the band playing in the background, I guess I have bad timing! They've now stopped and I'm tempted to start all over again, but I just know that as soon as I'm ready to go the next band will have started.

  • I liked the music! At fist I thought it was intentional, but then clued in that the sounds were muffled music coming from outside of your room. The distant base somehow intensified your words...I think.

  • @meghanthebrave Well, I'm glad you think it worked with it =] I should have a live video somewhere that I'll post up soon. You can compare =]

  • Fantastic as always. Only criticism is the muted music in the background distracts from the power, in my opinion. The impression is that it was incidental; like the bleeding through of activities distant and removed from your words. If it was intended to be present I'd still say it detracts rather than adds.

However, per the words, you speak beautiful truisms.. painfully beautiful truisms.

  • @Anarchosyn The music was unintentional, a band were playing downstairs. If only I knew how to isolate sounds and mute them or something. I hope it didn't distract too much.

  • E' una lama rovente nello stomaco, viene su fino alla gola, mentre il cervello è ghiacciato. It's a red-hot blade into my stomach creeping up to my throat, while my brain is freezing.
