MW2: How Did I Get an Assist?

Throughout the whole game i only took two shots. Both connected into kills and were through the hallway. Around five seconds after the second kill someone kills the final person and i get an assist. The thing is, the person wasn't even close to where i shot. To my consensus i think i should of had a random collateral killcam

It was a assist for sure! at 0:23-0:24 he checked the scoreboard for a second, you can see he had 0 assists, when the round was over you see he suddenly had a assist! How i dont know, but who cares.
