So I get a facebook message from Noe Padierna in which he asks me to get ahold of him via cell phone. So I give him a call and he tells me that he's apart of occupy Dallas and that he needs some help. I hear him out and next thing I know I find myself on my bike at 2:45 in the morning headed to Young and Griffin st. in Downtown Dallas. You know the spot, where there are statues of bulls running down a hill. Anyways, he asked me to bring three blankets and to do anything to help. So I got some footage and now I'm here typing up this blog. I'm sure you've heard of this 'occupy' movement that's been going on all around the country. I have and I was even present at something similar called Occupy the Fed on Friday. Basically, people are upset with how the government is handling its money situation. People are unhappy about the rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer and the middle class become almost nonexistent. All that aside, I'm not here to get you to take a political stance on the issue nor am I here trying to ask you to protest. I'm merely asking YOU, the person reading this blog right now, to help out people who are standing up for something they believe will better the world as we know it. Do something. The Dallas Police are supposed to run everyone out of the area by 5pm today (tues. Oct. 11). The people of Occupy Dallas have NO intention of leaving. They are asking everybody to come out to Young and Griffin st. to uphold your first amendment right to assemble peacefully. If you can't skip school or work, just get there before 5pm with clothes, blankets, food or anything you think will help. I'm gonna be out there and I hope to see you there. Do something. Even if you don't agree with what they are doing 100%, help people who are actually trying to take a stand for something. See you there.
