Mayor Earl Cabell presents General Edwin A. Walker with an honorary award from the Dallas Chamber of Commerce at the National Indignation Convention in Dallas in December, 1963. Walker returned to Texas after being relieved of duty as commander of NATO forces in Europe by President Kennedy for indoctrinating his troops in the teachings of the John Birch Society and reassigned. He refused the reassignment and instead tendered his resignation from the US Army.
