Paris Is Burning is a 1990 documentary film directed by Jennie Livingston. Filmed in the mid-to-late 1980s, it chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the various ethnicities, including African American, Latino gay and transgender community involved in it. Many[who?] consider Paris Is Burning to be an invaluable documentary of the end of the "Golden Age" of New York City drag balls, as well as a thoughtful exploration of race, class, and gender in America.[1]

  • @ReddzVoice I am 40 years of age, I saw " P I B" when I was 20.. I was in awe.. The love the sense of family that the ball scene had back then is beyond words... Is the ball scene still the same in New york it seems to me that it has now become big business ... Everything is real elaborate and high tech.. Not the humbleness it once had.. Everyone is seems appear more plastic and and not as naturally beauiful as the people were back then..

  • @76discodolly LOL! Yes, that's HAROLD CHANEL with the infamous "Come, come" line. The other Commentator you mentioned is the Legendary JUNIOR LABEIJA. He is still alive and doing very well. He looks great; just 30 pounds heavier. But you would recognize him immediately if you were to see him. All is well on my side. Thankfully, through the years, I was able to stay focused on education, entrepreneurship, sobriety, and condom usage. We live and we learn! ;-)

    Peace and love...

  • I just watched the whole movie on netflix and loved it! Then I wiki some of the cast and was hurt devastated and beyond pissed that most of them had passed. Relatively young black men women as they were added alot to the world and I'm enraged that they are gone. Disease and poor health riddled thru their bodies, taking them from their dreams and goals..... It's sad that they are gone, but legends no doubt!
