Zane Lowe interviews Eminem at Sirius Radio Station in New York, for BBC Radio 1 October 21st 08.
Eminem talks about Beastie Boys, his earlier career, Proof, The Hip Hop Shop, his first time on stage, using punch lines, lyrics, Ludacris, the beginning of D12 & Slim Shady, Infinite, being unsigned , The Slim Shady EP & hooking up with Dr Dre.

"Eminems new album will be titled Relapse. Slim made the announcement Wednesday night at a release party in New York for his new book, The Way I Am. Over the last few months, the project was rumored to have been titled both King Mathers and Empack. Also at the soiree were 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, L-L Cool J and The Alchemist.

Em also announced that hes teamed up with Nike to create a second pair of custom Air Jordan sneakers. The limited edition collection will produce just 313 pairs, as a tribute to Detroits area code. Proceeds will benefit The Marshall Mathers Foundation." - Written By Elle Castro. (thatshiphop.com)

@TomHerdman12 No I don't mean 96. Yes 'Infinite' came out in 96 but I have not been a fan since 1996 as I hadn't heard of Eminem in 1996. He hadn't even gotten national attention by then let alone international.

1999 was his breakthrough. I've been aware of him and a fan of him since he first 'broke through' to public recognition. But I'm aware of all his prior material too.

So no, I didn't mean 96. I meant 99, as I said.

@banan14kab Em got second in rap olympics. Was pissed. Someone ask for his tape. He said he just flung it at them. That got to Jimmy Iovine, he showed it to Dre. And dre instantly wanted to work with him. Dre probably also heard him on the radio, but this was after the tape stuff.

I've been an Eminem fan since he came out and followed him since 99, I'm one of his harshest critics, as a fan and expect the best from him...

That said, 'Relapse' is INSANE. Lyrically he pushes his schemes / patterns to new heights and the flows are bombastic. And it couldn't be more anti-commercial. I HATE club shit.
