  • Would the KLR 250 be ok to start on as a begginer bike?

  • @swisscosmo the 250 is an awesome bike. I almost bought one myself as an 'around town grocery getter.' I wouldn't expect to take it out on the freeway or on long distances, but around town or short distance commuting it would be a blast.

  • I have just bought a KLR650 (Model 2011) in Duncan, Vancouver Island Canada. I am 6ft (1.80m) tall and weigh, well a bit too much. I have upgraded my Bike with side-fall protection, Aluminum engine protection, additional LED Lights, LED Brake Light, 1 Top Case and 2 side Cases. I am very happy with my KLR. She is very agile and I can throw her around corners or make a very quick move on the road if there are objects on the road. She is the best for the buck and does not fail to please me.

  • @whileysea Awesome area to have a KLR, Vancouver. I've passed through there several times on business and always wanted to tour it on a bike. On the weight issue . . . I, too, have weighed a bit too much. I put myself on a diet and exercise plan. My wife was real happy until I told her, "yea, every pound I lose is another pound of gear I can haul on the KLR." She wasn't to amused with that comment, but like I said, there reasons why you ride a KLR, and some people just don't understand.

  • Just curious, i'm looking at lights for the klr I will be purchasing next summer, what lights did your brother have on there? -Thanks!

  • @TheTraxxasfreak we have LED lights from KLR.COM. But you can search around to find the type you like. Just search on KLR LED tail lights.

  • @JefferyCav and you never will. sorry.

  • @3azel The KLR 650 is a great first bike. Not too expensive, easy to work on and very forgiving of 'rookie' mistakes. As long as you're not intimidated by it height you should have no problem riding and enjoying the bike.

  • Simply put... I start "tweeking" out if I miss more than a day of NOT riding!

  • and this is why I left the east coast to come back to the PNW. Nothing but highway/freeway riding in that video!

  • good stuff here!!! How is the stock seat for extended riding?

  • can it cruise at 140 km/h fine? or will that keep the RPMs to high?

  • i have that helmet! it's an xd3!!
