First clip is of UP 844 running through Berkeley; the rest of the video was taken at the Hearst interchange siding in Niles Canyon, with the 3-way meet between UP 844, SP 2472, and Robert Dollar #3. This was the first time I've seen the 844 since 1989 (when I was less than a year old). I'd say it was worth missing a couple classes.

  • great still see up 844 out on the mainline, i only hope the same could be said for sp 2472 again someday soon

  • @ThomasRivette really

  • Those who notice a stuffed animal lamb on 2472's tender, that was Essmaralda, a member of the steam crew.

  • great video I had the Honer of rideing behind the 844 for the very first time in July of this year ..I really enjoy hearing these three American steam whistles I am spending 2 weeks here in Germany and all I have heard was single chime whistles on this narrow gauge I am rideing plus one German standred gauge mainline 2-8-2 also a very loud single chime whistle too and tomorrow I ride behind a 2-10-0 all former east German steam so its great to hear these wonderfull American steamers
