NYU students protesting nice but NYU made-off with our neighborhood, protest that!

Witness NYU's hideous ugly student center an eye sore on Washington Square Park. NYU uses the historic Washington Square Arch as their logo while they tear down our historic buildings and continue to push the community out bringing banks and retail stores that cater to college kids. This college kids are protesting and good for them but how about protesting the fact NYU is the Bernie Maddoff of the East West Villages, from Stuy Town to South Street Seaport and where ever NYU occupies real estate NYU makes off with entire neighborhoods. So does competitor Columbia University but NYU doesn't need to abuse eminent domain to get the job done.

The "channel" for cover page for Suzannahartist has the link to me confronting the mayor on the John Gambling show about NYU mega dorming the East Village to death. I asked for community outreach resource centers. I want them in every mega dorm so college kids become aware the community including small businesses are fighting to survive in their own neighborhoods. NYU (including Alicia Hurley said nice idea but no. Alicia is a good person but she works for the Evil Empire, the purple reign of terror aka NYU). The Villager (not) sold it's soul to developers including John Sexton and they cut out my demand that NYU and all mega dorms including NY Law give us community out reach resource centers at the rally at Tompkins Square Park. Editor Lincoln Anderson said his reporter said who do I think I am? Am I running for office? He said I did not say anything but I was the only one ever to talk about this and it would have helped small businesses and homeless and seniors, children, a dynamic idea and NYU has mega dormed the East Village to death and destroyed our community. They owe the people of this community big time.

I call John Sexton church murder because St. Ann's from 1847 survived everything but NYU's need and greed to build yet another hideous mega dorm. I am worried about infrastructure concerns for the neighborhood including the subways because of NYU and Cooper Unions supersizing so rapidly and so densely by subway stations that leak and are clearly rotting. The USPS sold the air rights over St. Ann's to NYU but did not notify the State of New York because it seems they felt they were above the law, their federal status put them above it all from blocking fire hydrants to not notifying the State. The state would have come in and examined the air space sale, is this in the best interest of the community, environmental concerns, etc.

Note: John Sexton ran down to testify that mayor King Mike Bloomberg needed another term and why, the next mayor will not put college kids housing before the people of New York City's housing problems like mass evictions, phony demolitions.

NYU students ask NYU if the community's law suits are beaten down by NYU's high priced attorneys and if you are paying for NYU's great white shark law firms. and also for NYU's public relations team....You want disclosure on NYU's budget, so do we and their real estate wheelings and dealings as well.. Can we have a map of all the real estate that NYU owns and leases and expose NYU's dealings with real estate as well as putting a cap on not for profit's buying up as much of NYC as possible. NYU wants to continue to push us out of our communities -- our live our voices inconvenient. Welcome to NYU-ville.

Cooper Union students are pleased with Cooper Union's greedy wheelings and dealings as long as they get free passage they don't care. I do not believe Peter Cooper wanted a college in his name to tear down our historic community and push out community members. There are a some students that are poor and are the real deal but it seems many just have no passion except they are passionate about getting their college time paid for free and do not care how Cooper Union does it. Columbia U. is abusing eminent domain and you don' t see any wild protests. I am glad NYU students are protesting the evil empire but I wish they were doing for us the people of New York, the East Village, West Village, from Stuy Town down to South St. Seaport.

Some universities I know of require service hours and things for their honors students - unfortunately, they only make Freshman do it, so it's a "do your first year duty" and coast rather than setting life patterns of engagement. It's too bad.

Actually, NYU's logo is a torch, but I agree with you on what it SHOULD be. You're talking to a former student ousted because of NYU's crappy financial aid and lack of dedication to students. [I still think Kimmel's a nice building :P]
