also drinking something as your taking the tube out helps as it lubricates it and also washes it at same time. as sometime there may be some stomache acid on the tube which can sting nose and throat. similar to when you've been sick.......... nasty :-)

WTF!!!! when I got my NG tube taken out she freakin yanked it out. Literally, she yanked it out, it was out in a split second. Hurt like hell.

hey, thanks, this is really helpful! cuz i was just reading about this and i was really confused because saunders said you have to ask the parient to take a deep breath and hold it before you take it out while kaplan said that you should ask your patient to exhale.

im not scared of getting it out any more coz i have the tube in for other 2 months with out eating so thanks but why did u have the tube in for 2 mins anyway!
