On the 'neutral ground'of Blaydon RFC, on the outskirts of Newcastle, the Edinburgh Eagles, winners of the Scottish Conference Grand Final, recorded an historic 54-38 victory over Peterlee Pumas, the top team in the North East (of England) Premier Conference and became the First Scottish Team to Progress to RFL Premier National Conference Semi-Finals. Windy conditions and some varying interpretations of the rules made for a close but entertaining contest, with the Eagles emerging as deserved winners to face the champions of the Yorkshire Premier Conference Grand Final (Hunslet Parkside Hawks, narrowly beaten 16-12 in the 2010 National Final by Northampton Demons).
