  • He has been a real inspiration in my life for many years and of course, even more so till this very day. What a GREAT man !!!! Thank God for the "small" favors, like HIM. What a gift !!

  • Siskel and Ebert, and Ebert and Roper, and finally At the Movies has been a major influence what movies I go and see and reflect on afterwards. All the shows I listed have mentioned have made me form an opinion on all movies I have seen.

Ebert and Roper's review of Mulholland Drive got me to watch it seven times before I liked it.

If not for them this gem would have passed me in the night.

  • he is probably one of the most intelligent people involved with show business, it's a shame what's happened to him

  • This is the way that all celebrities should be. Ebert's down to earth when he could easily be egotistical and he doesn't take himself too seriously either.

  • THUMBS UP AND DOWN LOL! Just look to the right here on this comment board and you'll see a thumb up and down. Thanks to Ebert.

  • ha ha... so funny when he's talking about the two thumbs up stuff.

  • Have thumbs and opinions about films, unfortunately don't have Siskel and Ebert talent or intellect.. They will be missed

  • i know...but i still like him!

  • Ebert's influence in the final years before his surgery was almost staggering and it still goes unrecognized. His TV and print reviews were largely responsible for launching Halle Berry and Charlize Theron's Oscar campaigns (films that most voters would not have seen otherwise). And I don't think its too much to suggest that his work was also the catalyst for Million Dollar Baby winning Best Picture (he was the #1 buzz-generator) and Crash upsetting Brokeback Mountain.

  • I agree.

    He's still very in depth!
