Preview: FY30A RC stabilization system

The FY30A is the successor to the FY20A, a stabilization system designed for fixed-wing RC planes. It combines gyros and accelerometers to supposedly turn even the most unstable model into an "easy to fly" craft.

To test the claims made for this device, I'll be fitting it to the wickedly unstable RC jetpack.

Note that this unit is not a replacement for the FY21AP since it has no autopilot or return-to-launch capability.

A) - Showing you've got one;

B) - Taking it out of its box; and

C)- Telling how you plan to use it....?

Sorry, I just don't see this as much of a "Review".

You didn't even cover what its improvements are, much less what it's now capable of - which surely a pre-film reading of the owner's manual would've advised?

I visited in anticipation of learning - spent 3-1/2 minutes of my life, for basically nothing. Should I feel disappointed?

I'm happy that I gave up buying the FY21AP last week! Can go directly to the 30A now! Can't wait to see your flight test with it!

@Delaunay73 As I mention in the description of this video -- the FY30A isn't a replacement for the FY21AP because it has no autopilot function - it's just a stabilizing device.  I suspect that FY will soon announce an FY31AP for the FPV fliers out there.

Bruce, you should strap your Open Pilot Copter Control on to your jet pack. It would be interesting to see the performance compared to the FY20A.

Interesting to note the design of you alerons. I would imagine that with this design your stability would be quite twitchy. Have you ever played around with a "V" shaped aleron? ie sharp end pointed to air flow, splayed ends redirecting air flow to a wider area hence greater stability. Sides of the inverted "V" could be convex to create even more spread. Anyway just a thought. Interesting project Bruce. Expat Kiwi

I thought that the jet pack project had been pretty much "moth balled" for good. This should be a definative test for this stabilizer system I would think. It's one thing to put it on an already stable plane, but that jet pack will no doubt really put it to the test.
