I'm in the process of building a generator to suit the "Steve's Elliptical Blade" turbine. This video describes the data collection process using a test coil.

  • @samdekok72 Thanks, but what I didn't point out is that I put a 0.8 m^2 turbine on parts that were designed for a 0.4 m^2 turbine. The tower flexes, the central rod flexes and I fear the generator will be too weak; so I think it is time to shrink it down a bit.

  • Great build!

  • @DominickBlack I've got a 12 V battery that I charge with solar and wind. I have a savonius type windmill that I used for a number of months. It has a smaller diameter and spins a bit faster. This one should put out more power but at a slower speed so I'll need more turns of a larger diameter wire. The generator will have 16 magnets per disk (2 disks) and 12 coils (4 coils per phase).

  • Are you looking to charge batteries or are you gonna try and feed the grid?

  • @DominickBlack I don't know yet. I'm just hoping to be able to predict the voltage that I got from theory.

  • What voltage are you aiming for?
