Charted at #92 on Billboard Hot 100 in May 1965. One of my favorite records by this group, and it doesn't hurt that my name is in the title. A classic! What's strange is that Billboard reviewed the b-side "Mama Don't Allow" as the top side.

the only girl group that ever did "tommy" -- I know for sure -- I wore out 5 45's -- the best

it was a b side to twinkles terry in the early 60s and that was a british sort of leader of the pack song

I think the Shangri las covered it '65; I remember playing the record, but I don't remember whether it was on an album or a 45.

@sloejoe21 The Shangri-Las did not record "Tommy". I've got all their recordings, including obscure ones. You must be thinking of another artist.

Hi, do you know if 'Tommy' was covered by any other female group please. My Mum used to have this when I was about 5 years years old but I thought someone else did it..

@esmereldatitswallop I haven't heard any other versions of this song. However, there were two other songs named "Tommy" out around the same time. One by Connie Francis and one by Angie and the Chicklettes, each one a different song.

@TheLimePopsicle Back in 1966, my mom gave me a recording of "Tommy". I remember it was a female group and the label was yellow. The record came inside a bag of potato chips. My sister deliberately broke it in 1967 because our mom gave it to me and since we were living with my dad and STEPMOM, anything connected to our mom was "evil".
Today, I am the only one of three kids who still has contact with our mom. My brother and sister have grown up bitter and disowned the entire family. Sad.

@jamesadrian021957 That's very sad, I'm sorry. I didn't know they put records in bags of potato chips, although I have heard of records included in cereal boxes as a free gift.
